What is an exotic computer?

When you hear the word "exotic" you might not think of exotic cars like Ferrari, Lamborghini, Aston Martin and Porsche right away, but we do. These cars are built by artisans who take care in every detail of the automobile. They tune each and every component to provide the best experience you can obtain on the road. Nordic PC's Exotic Computers strive to provide the same level of experience to our clients, with tuned CPUs and stylish good looks.

What makes an exotic computer different?

1. Overclocking:

Just like Ferrari tunes their engines, we tune our computers to provide the most power possible. Most CPUs are "binned" at lower frequencies than they can actually support to either fill in price points or because they require slightly more voltage to run at those frequencies than other chips do. Most chips will run even faster than the highest specification for their line by simply increasing the voltage a bit. If more voltage is applied to a chip, more heat will be produced, which is why we offer three levels of aftermarket cooling.

Stage 1: Xigmatek Dark Knight

The Dark Knight implements Xigmatek's Heatpipe Direct Touch for exceptional cooling performance at a very reasonable price point. The white LED fan that is included is a PWM fan that spins nearly silently until the CPU warms up under high loads. It then spins up to a very quiet 2200 RPM when needed.

Stage 2: Noctua NH-D14

Noctua is a company that has been long regarded as the king of air coolers. The D14 is simply the best air cooler money can buy in terms of both noise and performance. It consistently outperforms the exceptional Thermalright coolers and Prolimatech's innovations.

Stage 3: Swiftech Ultima XT

The Ultima XT from Swiftech is a well-respected water cooling kit, comprised of the Apogee XT water block, MCRES-Micro Revision 2, the classic MCP655-B pump and MCR220 dual 120mm radiator. This system is designed to handle Core i7 CPUs well into the 4.0GHz range, and is expandable to include GPUs and motherboard components in the future if desired.

2. Aesthetics:

A computer that can outperform the competition can't be considered exotic unless it does it in style. We believe that brushed, anodized and machined (BAM) aluminum provides the right look for any PC, while also offering some cooling benefits. When we think BAM, only one manufacturer comes to mind: Lian-Li. They have been regarded as one of the finest case manufacturers since opening their doors in 1983. Lian-Li regards fit and finish with the utmost importance, as this close up of Magni shows.

Noise is also a very important factor, so we offer an upgrade from Lian-Li's already spectacular 120mm fans to Scythe's Slipstream fans at 1200RPM. These are, in our opinion, the quietest fans that you can install, with the best airflow and exceptional reliability. We think that you'll agree as soon as you power up your PC.
